Bollywood movie star, Sanjay Dutta has confirmed that he has been diagnosed with cancer after weeks of rumors circulating in the country’s media.
In a video message posted on his Instagram page, the 61-year-old actor, who has made more than 150 films, said: ” Soon i will overcome the disease and start shooting for my new film in November.
In August Mr Dutta contracted coronavirus ater suffering from shortness of breath. He was tested and found to be infected.
He was later found to be suffering from various ailments at Mumbai Lilavati hospital.
In August Mr Dutta said he had “taken a short break from work to take care of his health” amid unconfirmed reports that he had contracted lung cancer.
The actor and his wife Maanayata have issued various statements, urging fans not to be distracted by rumors circulating about his health.
In a recent video of his upcoming movie ‘barber shop’, Dutta said: ” This is the last spot I’ve ever had in my life. But I will deal with it. I will soon recover from cancer, ” he said.
He added that he is “happy to be back in the film industry” in his next film.
He made a name for himself in the Indian film industry, but stopped filming after returning to prison in 2013 to complete his five-year sentence.
He was arrested on charges of possession of weapons in connection with the 1993 Mumbai attacks that killed 257 people and injured 713 others.
Two members of his family have died of cancer. His mother, Nargis, died of colon cancer in 1981, and his first wife died of brain cancer.
