Assistant Commissioner of Police killed by thugs

Cross River police spokeswoman Irene Ugbo revealed that the incident took place around 1pm on Tuesday night along the Murtala Mohammed Road.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Egbe Eko Edum, who happens to be the commander of the 73 PMF Squadron in Magumeri, Borno State, has been killed by suspected thugs in Calabar.

Cross River police spokeswoman Irene Ugbo revealed that the incident took place around 1pm on Tuesday night along the Murtala Mohammed Road.

The ACP who works in Borno State, was in Calabar to visit his family when his vehicle broke down on the road, she said.

The policeman called his wife to go and pick him up but before she could get to him, thugs attacked and killed.

DSP Ugbo said they started investigating the matter after they took his body to the mortuary.
