Switching from petrol to gas in Nigeria – The Federal Government has announced that motorists will have to pay at least N200,000 to N250,000 before converting their vehicle from a petrol petrol powered car to a gas powered car which is contrary to earlier promises.
NNPC GMD Mele Kyari on Tuesday announced that one million vehicles would be converted to gas-fired vehicles free of charge.
But speaking on Channels TV on Wednesday morning, Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Petroleum, Justice Derefaka, said motorists would pay a price equal to the size of their vehicles gas boiler.
“The price is different,” Derefaka said. “It depends on the size of the individual car gas boiler. As for the average price, it will cost around N200,000 to N250,000 and this is the price of a four-pot car, but it will be higher for the six-pot car owners.”
“The driver can choose what he wants; he can say he wants to use a CNG or LNG gas model, and as the minister said the change is diffrent and not all change is free. “
