4 Home Remedies For Toothache

Toothache can be very disturbing when encountered. Toothache usually causes severe headache, pain, and fever. The best way to take care of the toothache to visit a Dentist. However, here are a few home remedies to try as first aid when tackling toothache. 

Ways Of Tackling Toothache

1. The Cold Compress Remedy

Toothache usually causes 2 major maladies: headache and gum inflammation. One of the ways to reduce the pain causing the headache is by applying a “cold bag” to the affected spot. Put some ice cubes or block in a plastic bag and place on the spot for about 15 – 20 minutes. This will tremendously reduce the pain. 

2. Salt Water Rinse 

It has been proven in a study by the National Library of Medicine that rinsing the mouth with a mixture of warm water and salt greatly controls plaque collection and greatly reduce toothache. However, the mixture should not be ingested or swallowed.

3. Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse

Hydrogen Peroxide is usually used to clean the teeth. In addition to that, according to a study carried out by the Journal of International Society of Preventive & Community Dentistry, it has been said that hydrogen peroxide reduces gingivitis. A swish of it in the mouth greatly helps in reducing tooth pain and ache. Although it is very effective, it is very important that it is not swallowed.

4. Avoid Placing Pain Relief Directly On Your Gum

This act is not uncommon. Placing pain relief or pain killer is not a good practice when trying to treating toothache. It is advisable to use pain relief normally with water but placing it on the teeth or gum is wrong. 

It is important to visit the dentist regularly for a checkup. Moreover, if the ache persists after trying these remedies for two days, then you need to visit your dentist.
