The Nigerian Army Operation Hadarin Daji has rescued 10 hostages held by armed bandits in Zamfara State.
A spokesman for the Nigeria Defense Forces (NDF), Major General John Enenche, said they were rescued on Sunday.
He said they were able to rescue the people after their forces received an emergency call from Yenyewa village that armed bandits were spotted in the area.
The soldiers arrived and the bandits escaped, leaving the people in a state of shock, the Major General said.
He added that the people and their families have already been reunited.
The Nigerian Army in a separate operation, called Operation Whirl Stroke, killed several bandits and confiscated their weapons in north-central Nigeria’s Benue State.
