Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the term of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 until the end of March 2021.
In a message posted on his Twitter account, the president said it was impossible for the progress made in the past nine months to go to waste.
The president said: “I have stood by the situation and am convinced that urgent action is needed to control the spread of coronavirus.
The president also called on traditional rulers and the media to co-operate with his committee in raising awareness on the disease.
Yesterday, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 again ordered government employees from level 12 to stay at home for up to five weeks.
The committee also announced the closure of schools and gyms.
The PTF also imposed restrictions on religious gatherings, saying the venue should not accommodate more than 50 percent of its members.
