Kaya Village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna state is under attack by terrorists.
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement released Saturday that the bandits invaded the village and moved straight to the residence of Chief Imam, and in what appears to be a pre-meditated assault, shot him dead and left the village without taking any objects or hostages.
He said the murder of the cleric was connected to his voice against the murder and abduction of people by bandits.
Similarly, bandits also killed Ardo Musa Layi of Kajuru local government, who was abducted by armed men in October 2020 for his advocacy against shooting, kidnapping and rustling cattle.
In another development, security agencies confirmed the murder of the Sarkin Yaki of Godogodo, Mr. Yohanna Abu, by a gang of kidnappers.
According to the news, the gunmen attacked Nisama village in Jema’a local government area late Friday night and abducted Mr. Abu along with another man, Mr. Charles Audu.
A fight emerged between the pair and the kidnappers, and although Mr. Audu was able to escape, the kidnappers killed Mr. Abu.
The Commissioner has announced that five people have been detained in connection with the shooting, while security forces continue to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has expressed sadness at the reports, praying for the repose of the souls of the slain cleric and community leader, as he conveyed his heartfelt condolences to their families.
