Meet the Nigerian Calligraphy Artist, A2 Abdul

Abdulrahman Abdulhakeem is popularly known as A2_abdul, a young promising Arabic calligrapher. He is a Final year student of the great Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi (ATBU), in the Department of Biology Education. He is Yoruba by tribe from Oyo state Nigeria.

He started drawing and painting objects right from his childhood, he would get drawing books, exercise books, and drawing sheets just to draw cartoons, people and animals, and objects, overtime he proceeded to write beautiful letters on walls and objects bringing out the beauty in them.

“I was over the moon when my teacher asked me to draw in front of the other students in order for them to learn,” he says, pride still evident after all these years. something I have continued to do all my life.

A2 Abdul started to improve on his Calligraphy in 2019, when he saw an artist’s Calligraphy work and was inspired, he said to himself, “I can do better”. He went back to his drawing and decided to nurture and improve on his Arabic calligraphy, and since then, he has done quite a great number of calligraphy works for people beyond his imagination.

He did calligraphy work for the Commissioner of Environment Niger State, Barr. Muhammed T. Zakari, The great Ordinary Ahmed of Human Rights Radio, For the chief Bursar of Federal College of Education, Zuba, and among them, business tycoons. His uniqueness in calligraphy has made him stand out among his clan, his work has traveled really far across Nigeria, Bauchi, Jos, Niger, Abuja, and Ibadan amongst others.
