Ahead May 29 inauguration, police warn against breach of peace in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police Mohammed Bunu has warned that the police will not tolerate any breach of peace or disobedience during and after the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the new administration in the state.

Bunu disclosed this during a press briefing at the police command headquarters on Friday where he outlined the preparation ahead of the inauguration ceremony slated for Monday, May 29, 2023.

DAILY POSTrecalls that the 2023 gubernatorial election of February 25 was won by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dauda Lawal Dare with his deputy, Malam Mani Malam Mummuni.

The Zamfara State Police Command appealed to members of the public, especially the supporters of the two major political parties in the state, the All Progressives Congress, APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to eschew violence and conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the inauguration ceremony to avoid a breakdown of law and order in the state.

Bunu further assured that the command will continue to sustain the collaboration with other security agencies in the state to create a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the inauguration.
