Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Wednesday, tasked the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on interagency collaboration with a view to successfully tackle the menace of drug abuse, particularly among youths in the state.

The governor said this when the NDLEA State Commander, Ali Aminu, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Bauchi, adding that if the NDLEA work in collaboration with other sister agencies, the problem of drug abuse in the state, particularly among youths, would reduce drastically.

While assuring that the Bauchi State Government will strive hard to address fake and counterfeit drugs in the state in order to reduce addiction and abuse among youths, Governor Mohammed challenged the NDLEA commander to work hard in collaboration with other sister agencies to stem the tide of illicit drugs and other activities.

Speaking earlier, Aminu lamented the high rate of drug abuse in the state and asserted that there is the need for proper collaboration and support from the state government with a view to arresting the ugly trend in the state.
