The Acting Vice chancellor of the Federal University Gusau, Prof. Aliyu Gadanga Tsafe has said the management of the institution and the security agencies were working very closely to secure the freedom of some students abducted recently in the Damba area of Gusau.

Addressing newsmen at his office, Tsafe stated that the students were not abducted at the university’s premises.

He urged the federal government, private investors and wealthy individuals to come to the aid of the institution by providing a hostel for the teeming students of the university due to the banditry activities ravaging the institution.

Tsafe blamed kidnappings in the institution on lack of adequate fences and students’ hostels, saying that the school’s management was not happy that the students were residing outside the school’s premises.

The Acting Vice chancellor said that more funds were needed to erect fences for the protection of the students and the workers in the school.

“We don’t have enough accommodation for the students and workers in the school,” he said.

Recall that some students of the University were kidnapped last Friday.
