Former governor of Zamfara State, Sani Yerima, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for mustering the courage to remove fuel subsidy on the day of his inauguration, insisting that it would have been a herculean task if he missed the opportunity.
Yerima stated this on Monday, shortly after he met with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to the former governor, that singular decision by the President portrays him as a courageous person.
He also said the forces of demand and supply will bring down the price of fuel, especially when the palliatives being mulled by the government become effective.
His words: “You see, the removal of subsidy on the day of inauguration is the best decision on the part of the President, otherwise, this would not have happened.
“Former President Muhammadu Buhari had planned to do this many times. But in the end, he shifted the takeoff of the removal of fuel subsidy to June.
“Mr President, as a very serious person who has ruled Lagos successfully for eight years, in fact, continuously, knew that this had to go. And he quickly removed it, and as an economist, once the forces of demand and supply are in place, that will help maintain equilibrium in the prices.”
