Banditry: Be security conscious, provide intelligence to relevant authorities – Niger Gov Bago to residents

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has sympathized with the people of Kagara Emirate over the banditry attack in Garin Gabas Community.

He also called on the people to be security conscious and provide intelligence to relevant authorities for proactive steps in addressing the situation.

It was gathered the incident occurred at midnight on Sunday. Two security personnel were injured, while three persons were kidnapped in the attack. The gunmen engaged security operatives stationed at the Garin Gabas Primary School in a gun battle while passing through one of their major routes with cattle suspected to have been rustled.

The Governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the attack as unfortunate.

He commiserated with the victims’ families while appealing to the people to show more understanding as his administration will not leave anything to chance in securing the lives and property of the state’s citizens.

Bago applauded the bravery of the security personnel who engaged the bandits and assured them of continuous support.

He prayed for the quick recovery of the two injured security operatives and the safe return of those kidnapped.

The injured security personnel are currently receiving treatment in a government health facility in the state.
