The Oyo State government on Monday sealed a pharmacy in the state over violations of operation codes.

The state government said it sealed FinRel Pharmacy Supermarket and Bakery in Ibadan for violating the Oyo State Veterinary Practicing Premises Registration Regulation of 2018 and the Oyo State Private Veterinary Premises and Veterinary Establishment Law, 2017 and Animal Diseases Control Act, 2022.

Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, informed the press of the development in a statement on Tuesday.

Olaleye alleged that the pharmacy was operating an illegal veterinary pharmacy and engaging in veterinary clinical services which could endanger the health of the public in the state.

Olaleye said the move is in line with the government’s efforts to curtail and prevent the outbreak of diseases.

He added that the ministry discovered through its surveillance that the owner of the premises was operating an illegal veterinary pharmacy and engaging in veterinary clinical services without registration.

“We discovered through our surveillance that the owner of the premises is operating an illegal veterinary pharmacy and engaging in Veterinary clinical services without registration with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria and Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development which is against the law,

”He was using an unapproved location for sale of Veterinary products as well as treatment of sick animals that can pose a health risk to humans, as customers can contract zoonotic diseases from the location”.
